Hermanos Gutiérrez: KCRW Live from HQ
Intimate performances, fresh sounds, and candid conversations with a view.
Hermanos Gutiérrez, the Ecuadorian-Swiss sibling duo of Estevan and Alejandro Gutiérrez, unleash their instrumental Latin Western sounds at KCRW, fresh off of their Dan Auerbach-produced 2022 album El Bueno y El Malo. The desert vibes are strong in each reverb-drenched, luxuriously layered note played from their guitars, permeating the Annenberg Performance Studio like dry heat slowly rising through a cacti-crowded expanse.
The sessions features favorites from El Bueno y El Malo, including the live performance debut of “Tres Hermanos.” Between stretches of instrumental lushness, the duo opens up to Anthony Valadez about their arrangement choices, OutKast mixtapes, and which brother is the better soccer player.
