KCRW’s Top 30 chart: Nov. 6 – Nov. 12, 2023

With the year drawing to a close, you’d think turnover on the KCRW charts would be a thing of the past. Au contraire. This week is showing some of the biggest shake-ups we’ve seen all year, as mainstays like Pachyman, Nation Of Language, and Helado Negro fall by the wayside. We don’t expect they’ll stay away for long (especially Helado Negro, whose LP PHASOR is due Feb. 9), but it’s always nice to get a little variety. Plus, all of this movement appears to be just the thing for Sampha’s slow-burning LP Lahai to ease back into first position. 

New and notable: It’s a banner week for mysterios as the DJ collective (?) Joy Anonymous makes a splashy top five debut with their collection of house and breakbeat bangers, Cult Classics. Plus, our favorite reluctant hazy-R&B icon Jai Paul teams with one of his Paul Institute label signatories, the similarly-elusive (but no less destined for R&B icon status) Fabiana Palladino, for the aching slow jam “I Care.” Fire up our Top 30 Spotify playlist to get lost in the music.
